📢 **Update from Brent Johnson** 📢
We have great news from KPBSD! The Legislature has worked to provide crucial funding for our schools:
- $11.4 million in one-time operating budget funding
- Increased transportation funding
- Additional support for K-3 students through the Reads Act
- $5.5 million in Maintenance of Equity funding from the Federal Government
Thanks to these allocations:
- Pool Manager and Theater Tech positions remain secure
- Classified staff workdays remain intact
- No increase in Pupil-Teacher Ratio
- Elementary Counselor positions are safe
The governor has made no move to sign or veto this bill from the senate. Continued community support is crucial.
While we celebrate this positive outcome, it’s important to reflect on the chaos and uncertainty caused by the initial veto of SB 140. Our educators and staff deserve respect and stability. Let’s ensure education is always a priority. 📚✨
